Cape to Cape Explorer Tours shared a beautiful afternoon at Redgate Beach yesterday with the film crew from Chinese travel show “Tico Take Us to…Australia” (Tico 伴我游澳洲). The show features six Chinese families travelling together to Australia, and focusses strongly on the children’s experience.
Cape to Cape Explorer Tours Managing Director, Gene Hardy and daughters Willow and Olive will be famous in China, having shared a range of bush foods with the host and joined with the Chinese children to compete in a sandcastle competition. Each group in the sandcastle competition had an additional construction challenge that they were given.
Our Operations Officer Saul Cresswell has a Chinese translation business. China Friendly helped translate from the hosts to the bewildered Australian girls that Willow had to build the Great Wall of China (长城) around her sandcastle, while Olive’s group had to build the “People’s Great Hall” (人民大礼堂) inside her sandcastle!
Some of the Chinese kids were far too excited at seeing the ocean for the first time to sit and concentrate on building sandcastles, and Gene was on lifeguard duty while they splashed in the water.
Yesterday was a nice affirmation that the natural world is inspiring for people from every culture, and that eco-tourism offers a sustainable way to engage with the local economy in the beautiful south-west.
