The Cape to Cape Track in autumn has launched in the best possible way, with two back-to-back groups walking every step of the full 132km trail this week. From the northern cliffs to the southern forests, both teams embraced the challenge, the coastline and the camaraderie that only a full end-to-end hike can deliver.

Clear skies welcomed our first departure of the season for our 8-Day Guided End-to-End adventure. Warm days rolled in from the Indian Ocean. Excited walkers gathered at the northern trailhead ready to take on one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal walks. Energy ran high from the very first kilometre.

Two groups, 132km, one unforgettable week

Both groups committed to walking the entire Cape to Cape Track, covering all 132km with determination and plenty of laughs along the way. Each morning started with purpose. Every headland revealed another sweeping ocean view. Each climb strengthened the sense of achievement across the team.

Walkers supported one another through sandy stretches and steady ascents. Conversations flowed easily on the forest sections. Celebratory cheers marked the final steps at the southern end of the track. By the end of the week, strangers had become friends bonded by shared effort and unforgettable scenery.

Wildlife, swims and classic Cape to Cape moments

This week delivered the kind of moments that define the Cape to Cape Track in autumn. Kangaroos grazed near the trail in the early light. Sea eagles circled above limestone cliffs. Dolphins appeared in the bays below, rewarding those who paused to look out across the water.

Several calm afternoons invited refreshing ocean swims. Walkers dropped their packs, wandered down to sheltered beaches and floated in clear turquoise water before continuing on. Golden afternoon light turned the cliffs and coastal heath into a photographer’s dream. Every day felt full, active and deeply connected to the landscape.

Why autumn sets the tone for the season

With the season now underway, autumn continues to prove why it ranks as a favourite time to walk the Cape to Cape Track in autumn. Summer crowds ease, yet the days remain warm and inviting. Temperatures allow for strong daily distances without extreme heat. Stable weather patterns often deliver blue skies and gentle sea breezes.

Softer light enhances the colours of the coastal heath and limestone cliffs. Ocean temperatures stay pleasant after summer, which makes those mid-hike swims even more appealing. These conditions create an ideal balance of challenge and comfort for long-distance walking.
