Cape to Cape Explorer Tours recent Father’s Day busy bee was a fantastic success, with almost twenty people turning out to assist with annual Track maintenance.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to spend Father’s Day”, said Cape to Cape Explorer Tours guide Gene Hardy.
“We had a number of mini explorers out helping with the work and it’s great to see how excited the kids are about nature!”
Cape to Cape Explorer Tours have adopted the stretch from Bob’s Hollow to Contos, and have been responsible for it’s maintenance over the past five years.
While it is still far too early in the season for most wild flowers to be out or the humpback whales to be returning, there were some early blooms, including the iconic cocky’s tongue and Darwinia.
Cape to Cape Explorer Tours still have some spots left of the early November Cape to Cape End to End Experience and resident ecologist Drew McKenzie asserts that this is one of the best times to do the Track.
“Late October and early November is a great time on the Cape to Cape”, say Drew. “Wildflowers paint the hillsides and humpback whales are at the peak of their annual migration with calves in tow, it’s really special!”
With the Track pruned the Father’s Day team headed back to Contos campground for a well deserved BBQ and a few rounds of tug o war!
