Cape to Cape Explorer Tour, August 2010
This is the view that greeted walkers mid-way through a Cape to Cape Explorer Tour near Cape Naturaliste, north west of Margaret River. The landmark in the background is the famous Sugarloaf Rock, home to the Red Tailed Tropic Bird (Phaethon rubricauda), the distinctive bird of the Cape to Cape Explorer Tours’ logo. This rare bird nests on Sugarloaf Rock, which is completely separated from the mainland, providing a welcome refuge from predators. This is the southern most nesting spot for the Red Tailed Tropic Bird in the Southern Hemisphere.
