We’re stoked to bring you the news of some significant Cape to Cape Track upgrades which improve the safety and amenity of the Track! They’re just in time for our autumn hiking season on Margaret River’s premier coastal walking trail.

Smiths Beach to Canal Rocks track improvments

Solid steps tastefully made from local granite

Time of plenty on the Cape to Cape Track
Thanks to Skywalker and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions for improving and future-proofing this iconic section of the track. And, the work has also won the praise of the region’s peak conservation group, Nature Conservation Margaret River Region.

Upgrades honour the Track and sense of place
Nature Conservation’s coastal officer Mandy Polley said the new upgrades to the Cape to Cape Track south of Smiths Beach are slowing erosion, caring for the landscape, improving safety for walkers and also blending into the surrounds beautifully. “Sensitivity to the natural environment is key,” says Mandy. “There’s been no machinery involved, instead all of the work was done using hand tools. And all materials including granite for steps sourced locally and and blend into the landscape, honouring sense of place. It also improves the experience for trail users, with steps and pathways built to high specifications to create a seamless and safe walk trail.”
