Participants on Cape to Cape Explorer Tours’ last end-to-end experience for October enjoyed a final day of sun and surf on what many regard as the most challenging leg of the Track.
“Today was a challenging but very fulfilling day in the sense that you could see your destination, the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, creeping closer all the way”, Said Rob Smith of Sydney.
The week was blessed with perfect spring weather, with walkers thoroughly enjoying the delights of the Cape to Cape Track.
“It really was another great week, with a fantastic group really making the most of what is a splendid part of the world’, said Cape to Cape Explorer Tours Guide Gene Hardy.
The final day was a real mix of stunning beach vistas and coastal heath walking, with the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse visible almost the entire day. Like most legs of the Track, there was several safe swimming options and many of the group took up the chance to cool off in the Deepdene ‘infinity pool’!
One of the other highlights of the day was the team ‘Nanna Nap’ over lunch break.
“We found a nice shady spot for lunch, with a soft sand floor and great ocean views”, said Gene. “It was so relaxing that we just called timeout and all lay down for a rest and yes, I may have drifted off for a few minutes – just don’t tell the boss!”
After a week of laughs and new learnings on the track the team reached Cape Leeuwin lighthouse shortly before 4pm, right in time for some freshly baked scones and a well earned cup of tea.
Cape to Cape Explorer Tours final end to end experience for 2012 will begin on November 10 and promises yet another great experience in Australia’s South West.
