Keen hiker Julie Blackburn has just completed Margaret River’s best hike – the Cape to Cape Track – an incredible 7th time. What an achivement and well done Julie, tackling the 124km Cape to Cape Track… again!

Completing the Cape to Cape with a good mate

Of the seven adventures, Julie (pictured above, right) has completed Margaret River’s best hike four times independently. And three times assisted by Cape to Cape Explorer Tours, taking care of her coastal accommodation, catering, logistics and daily pick-ups and drop-offs. The last visit was this month, hiking the Track with her friend Peta.
.
“I love the track and really enjoy sharing the experience with friends and family,” Julie says. “My good friend Peta is not a camper so we decided on the Catered Comforts self-guided option. Everything was superb! I really can’t wait to get back and do it again. Thanks to all the team. I can’t speak highly enough of them. They are all super friendly. Communication along the way was exceptional. The accommodation wonderful (particularly love Chandlers Smiths Beach Villas). Canoe crossing on the Margaret River was wonderful. And the food was delicious (local fish – yum!).”

Hiking in England and Spain – as well as Western Australia

Julie is an experienced walker who has hiked in some top destinations around the world. “I’ve always enjoyed walking and spent quite a bit of time in the Lake District in my younger days,” she says. “Multi day hikes are my favourites. I did the Coast to Coast in England many years ago. And more recently half the Camino in Spain, which I had to abandon after 355km due to a mid-foot stress fracture!”

“I’ve also done a bit on the Bibb (Bibbulmun Track), including Peaceful Bay to Walpole earlier this year. An end to end is on the cards in the future.”

Margaret River’s best hike “perfect for mind and body”

While she’s walked all over the world, Julie says there is something incomparable to the Cape to Cape Track. she rates it as Margaret River’s best hike.

Walking the Cape to Cape Track is perfect for a quick re-boot of both mind and body,” she says. “I love the stunning views. The wildlife. And just the overall challenge. I’ve hiked with Cape to Cape Explorer Tours three times. The first alone. Then with family visiting from the UK. And most recently with my great friend Peta. All fabulous experiences!”

And there’s an 8th Cape to Cape Track assault coming soon

Never one to rest of her laurels, Julie is soon launching into yet another Cape to Cape Track hike – her 8th! “I’m heading down again next week to do it yet again,” Julie says. “But this time I’ll be camping. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it. It’s so beautiful!”

However, for those who don’t want to carry all their camping gear on their back, Julie recommends the Cape to Cape Explorer Tours suite of products. “Cape to Cape Explorer Tours offer a fabulous alternative for those who don’t fancy camping,” she says. “Can’t recommend it highly enough!”

We wish Julie all the best on her 8th Cape to Cape later this month. Book your self-guided adventure on the Cape to Cape Track or walk with our expert guides on our 8-Day Guided End-to-End adventure. And we’ll see you on the Track soon!
