Travel open from all states to WA
The WA Government has announced March 3 as the revised date for the state border reopening. This means quarantine-free travel for both international and interstate arrivals from March 3 onwards.
International arrivals will need to be double vaccinated, consistent with national standards. And interstate arrivals will need to be triple vaccinated. Both international and interstate arrivals will be supplied with a Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival, to be used within 12 hours.
Confidence high for border opening to interstate hikers
The Tourism Council of WA says it is very confident the March 3 date will not change. “And we encourage businesses to reassure booked and potential customers they will be able to travel to WA,” says Tourism Council of WA boss Evan Hall.
That’s great news for people from around Australia who have been patiently waiting for the WA border to reopen. And it’s particularly reassuring for those planning a visit to WA to tackle our Cape to Cape and Bibbulmun Track adventures.

Cape to Cape Explorer Tours founder Gene Hardy said the border opening paved the way for an exciting year ahead. “The timing is perfect. The border will open just as we start a bumper autumn hiking. We’ll be running both guided and self-guided adventures on the Cape to Cape Track. Plus our fully guided Bibbulmun Track wilderness immersion,” says Gene.
“We’re also taking bookings for spring hiking from September through to December. That’s when the stunning wildflowers and orchids are blooming. Those dates will book out, so it’s definitely worth getting in quick!”
