Tennis royalty Alicia Molik says hiking in Margaret River and tackling the region’s Cape to Cape Track was one of the best experiences of her life. The former world No. 8 from Western Australian did our 3-Day Smiths Beach Spectacular experience with three pals.

.

It involved staying in luxury accomodation at Smiths Beach Resort, three days of self-guided hiking on the epic Cape to Cape Track, with catering, transport and logistics from Cape To Cape Explorer Tours. And the girls capped off the adventure with a fine dining lunch at famous Margaret River winery Leeuwin Estate!

.

“It was probably one of the best things I’ve done in my life,” Molik, pictured below on the far right, says. “Three great girlfriends, being able to walk and talk, and the beautiful vistas… just amazing. It was such a nice time of year, end of October, early November, when the wildflowers are still out. And the weather wasn’t too hot, so we enjoyed that, and it didn’t throw us off the pace too much.”

Molik plans return visit to the Cape to Cape Track

The former professional tennis player reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 and won a bronze medal for Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Molik peaked at No. 6 in the doubles rankings and won Grand Slam titles at the 2005 Australian Open and the 2007 French Open. And she reached the finals of the 2004 Wimbledon, 2004 US Open, and 2007 Wimbledon mixed doubles events.

.

These days, she’s a busy mum who relished the chance for a short break “down south” with friends. The 39-year-old says she loves hiking in Margaret River so much she’s keen to come back and tackle the entire 124km Track on Cape To Cape Explorer Tours‘ 5-Day “Fast n Furious” package. “I’ll be back and I’d like to do the Fast n Furious. We took it easy this time to check out the landscape and it was just one of the best things I’ve ever done,” Molik enthused.

.

“We had a bit of system with each of us taking the lead at different times. And women never run out of things to talk about. If the Cape to Cape took 100 days, we still wouldn’t run out of things to talk about.”
