Wildflower season blooming on the Cape to Cape Track
The sun is shining, whales are migrating and wildflowers are about to bloom – meaning a superlative spring season for hiking on Western Australia’s premier multi-day hiking trail, the Cape to Cape Track!
Our latest newsletter reveals that, until a few months ago, our spring season from September to Christmas was fully booked. But we’ve now got new availability on both our 8-day Guided End-to-End Adventures as well as our self-guided tours ranging from 3 to 7 days, with distances to suit every fitness level.
“Spring is our most popular season on the calendar, when the Track puts on a breathtaking display of orchids and endemic wildflowers,” says Cape to Cape Explorer Tours founder Gene Hardy.

Bibbulmun Track dates announced for 2022
Meanwhile, our spring newsletter has all the details about our guided Bibbulmun Track 6-Day Hiking Adventures with six new dates released for 2022. They’re timed when the Walpole Wilderness Area on WA’s South Coast is at its most show-stopping for hiking beneath the canopy of ancient tingle trees.
As we come into spring on both the Cape to Cape and Bibbulmun Tracks, it’s the season of Kambarang to the indigenous Wadandi people of the Margaret River region. It’s when we see an abundance of colours and flowers explode into life.
The yellows of acacias abound, along with banksias and smaller delicate flowering plants including the kangaroo paw and orchids. Balgas or grass trees start to flower, especially if recently burnt. One of the most striking floral displays is the mooja or Australian Christmas Tree, with bright orange and yellow flowers.
Meanwhile, reptiles start to awaken from their hibernation and look to make the most of the warmth, while birds are raising young. Overall, it’s a time of transformation with the welcome warm change in the weather!
