Cape to Cape walk to celebrate wedding anniversary

Tackling Margaret River’s Cape to Cape walk – what an epic way to celebrate a 30th wedding anniversary! Perth couple Mark and Jo Palladino were supposed to be on a luxurious cruise in Europe to mark three decades since they tied the knot.

.

But with COVID-19 travel restrictions preventing any overseas or interstate travel, they decided the only option was to holiday in Western Australia and tackle the Cape to Cape walk. “I didn’t think celebrating our anniversary was going to be this challenging. But it’s also been amazing,” says Mark.

Cape to Cape walk is “the bomb”

The couple decided to tackle the entire length of the 124km Cape to Cape Track. And they opted for Cape To Cape Explorer Tours’ 7-day, self-guided adventure. That includes coastal accommodation, delicious catering and daily Track transfers to and from the starting point of each day’s walk.

.

“We loved it. The accomodation has been great. The meals have been the bomb. And the staff have been great on our morning and afternoon Track transfers. Nothing to complain about, that’s for sure!” says Mark.

A family affair in Margaret River

They were joined for the first few days of their hike by Jo’s sister-in-law Jill Lewis (pictured above, in the centre). But Jill loved hiking the Track so much she decided to extend her stay and hike some extra days with the happy couple. “I didn’t want to crash their wedding anniversary. But I’ve enjoyed it so much I’m walking an extra day or two. It’s been marvellous. I’;ve really enjoyed it,” Jill says.

Mark and Jo have documented the epic Margaret River hike with plenty of photos, some of which we’ve included in this gallery. Happy hiking guys! And a big happy anniversary from the team at Cape To Cape Explorer Tours. To book your self-guided hiking adventure, click HERE.
