One of our highlights this season was a zen Margaret River yoga retreat with an inspiring group from Perth yoga centre Myall Yoga and Wellbeing Centre. We teamed up with Emma Pugsley from Myall Yoga to offer a fabulous 5-day retreat. It incorporated guided hiking experiences on Margaret River’s Cape to Cape Track with meditative yoga classes. Plus, the group were based at our hiking hub SurfPoint Resort, a stone’s throw from beautiful Gnarabup Beach.

.

“Wow what a week that was!” Emma says. “Today as I reflect on our 5-day Cape to Cape hiking and yoga retreat that we shared with 20 lucky retreat guests, I note that it is the culmination of six months of preparation with Gene Hardy, the founder and director of Cape to Cape Explorer Tours (CCET). What a pleasure it has been working with Gene and his team, including Nic Chirico from Surfpoint Resort, to create and deliver an exceptional rejuvenating experience for our guests.”

.

Immersed in the nature in the South-West

Emma says the spring hiking adventure was the perfect time of year. They enjoyed wildflowers out in force and glorious sunny weather. “We enjoyed three days of perfect sunny spring weather. Of hiking and immersing ourselves in the nature of the great South-West coast of WA. Plus daily morning flow yoga. And restorative yoga in the afternoon,” she says. “Our Gnarabup yoga studio was just a five-minute walk away from our accommodation, both conveniently located near Gnarabup Beach and the White Elephant Cafe.”

.

As well as hiking and yoga, the group enjoyed a day of wine tasting and lunch at local restaurant and olive farm Olio Bello. “So in terms of our promise for yoga, hiking and bliss I think we can safely say we delivered,” Emma says.

A winning team at Cape To Cape Explorer Tours

So successful was the retreat, Emma says she will be back with another group of hiking yogis for a May 2021 retreat. Plus, she’s hoping to offer a second retreat teaming up with CCET later in the year on our exciting new 6-day Bibbulmun Track adventure. “The Cape to Cape hiking team led by Gene are a wonderful passionate group,” Emma says. “And our accommodation at SurfPoint was a bright casual space. We loved the common areas for our retreat guests to gather socially in a group or individually for quiet time.

.

“What I loved about my very first conversation by phone with Gene was that his passion and his enthusiasm is palpable. Nothing is ever too much of a problem. Everything such a pleasure for him to share. That includes his favourite walks he selected for us. His love of surfing. And his home town of Gnarabup. Plus his love of the delicious locally-sourced produce and food that we enjoyed for our meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were amply catered,” Emma says.

Margaret River yoga retreat leaves lasting impression

As the retreat drew to a close, Emma says she took away great memories and plenty of inspiration. “My lasting impression is the final words of advice Gene shared as we said our goodbyes. He encouraged us to remember that no matter how busy we might be or how challenging things might become, to always find joy every day. Either by doing something you love. Or spending time with loved ones,” she says.
