Hiking the Bibbulmun Track was a high point for this group of hikers from Darwin who joined our 6-Day guided “Walpole Wilderness Experience” during spring. After hiking the Cape to Cape Track with us last year, the group of 10 friends – all keen hikers – returned for our Bibbulmun Track experience based in Walpole on WA’s south coast. And although they’ve hiked all over the world, the group said the magical tingle forest and pristine wilderness was the equal of any hiking trails they’ve walked before.

Hiking, swimming and connecting with nature on the Bibb

Cape to Cape Explorer Tours staff Floss Hayes and Mike McAuliffe were guides on the trip, which they rated as one of the best this year. “We had such a ball and plenty of laughs along the way with this great group,” says Floss. “One of the many highlights was the sheer number of orchids in full bloom. Just heaps of them! We saw hammer orchids, zebra orchids, rattle beaks, giant pansy orchids, cowslips, pink fairies… the works! We were also blessed with beautiful weather most days. Coming from Darwin, the hikers all loved the cooler spring weather on WA’s south coast. And they loved the magical tingle forest.

2023 Bibbulmun hiking dates beginning in February

If you’re keen to hike the Bibbulmun Track, our hiking dates have now been released for 2023! There are six dates to choose from for our 6-day guided “Walpole Wilderness Experience”. The Bibbulmun hiking calendar for 2023 kicks off with two hikes at the end of summer, when the canopy of Walpole’s majestic tingle forest provides welcome shade. And the swimming opportunities are endless, in the Frankland River, Nornalup Inlet, and the Indian Ocean beaches around Conspicuous Cliff.

Summer hiking perfect for forest hiking and swimming

Our first hike runs from 11th – 16th February and the second from 18th – 23rd February. Our final two hikes of the 2023 season on the Bibbulmun Track run from 11th – 16th November and from 25th – 30th November. Again, warm temperatures make for pleasant hiking, with welcome shade under the forest canopy of giant karri and tingle trees.
