We’re proud, humbled and super stoked to be named a finalist in the Ecotourism category for the 2019 Perth Airport West Australian Tourism Awards.
If we win, it’ll be the third year in a row that Cape To Cape Explorer Tours is named the best ecotourism business in Western Australia!
We’re going up against some of the best ecotourism operations in the state. They include Busselton Jetty, Kimberley Quest, Live Ningaloo, Rockingham Wild Encounters and Rottnest Island.
SurfPoint Resort also named a finalist
Margaret River’s SurfPoint Resort is also a finalist in the West Australian Tourism Awards’ Standard Accomodation category. SurfPoint is operated by Cape To Cape Explorer Tours. And it’s become the go-to accomodation hub in the region for hikers on the Cape to Cape Track. Not to mention a wide range of other visitors to Margaret River.
The 3.5-star SurfPoint Resort, a stone’s throw from Gnarabup Beach, is up against Metro Hotel Perth and Kangaroo Inn for the gold medal.
The winners will be announced at a gala event hosted by the Tourism Council of WA at Crown Perth on November 9.
What the nomination means
Cape To Cape Explorer Tours managing director and founder Gene Hardy said the nominations in this year’s West Australian Tourism Awards were a testament to his team of dedicated hiking guides, drivers, catering and accomodation staff.
“We all love what we do. We get a huge kick out of sharing the very best of Margaret River’s spectacular scenery and coastline with our guests. And ensuring they have delicious meals and quality accomodation along the way,” Gene said.
“Sustainability. Minimising the impact on the environment. And operating as a ecotourism business – they’re all really important to us. So we’re super proud of this nomination.”
Big year for Cape To Cape Explorer Tours
It’s already been a big year for Cape To Cape Explorer Tours. We took out two major awards at the Bendigo Bank Margaret River Region Business Awards earlier in the year.
We scooped the “Robust and Remarkable Award” for an established business with more than eight employees that continues to thrive, excel and grow.
And then Gene took out top honours when he was named the 2019 Margaret River Business Person Of The Year.
The judges said he showed great entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, shared vision and direction.
